MESSAGE
the
"Love conquers all; lavender represents all," says Matrix
artist Todd Kane of Love Out Lavender—a brand-agnostic movement he
began after his mother passed away of cancer. The concept? Love Out
Lavender challenges beauty professionals to use traditional cancer-
affi liated ribbon colors (pink for breast cancer, dark blue for colon
cancer, etc.) as inspiration to tell visual stories about their personal
cancer experiences, and then use these images to garner attention
and raise funds for the City of Hope medical and research center.
Fundraisers are created through loveoutlavender.org. Simply click
on "Create a fundraiser," then share from the site via social media,
text message and email. Donations can be made directly through
the website or from each unique link shared on social media. Annual
campaigns kick off on World Cancer Day on February 4 and extend to
National Cancer Survivors Day, which is the fi rst Sunday in June. "I chose
'lavender' as part of my campaign name to represent all cancers, since there
is no one disease attached to that color," explains Kane. "As an industry, I
want us to unite to spread the Love Out Lavender movement; together, we can
achieve so much."
