38 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | JANUARY 2018 Live & Learn/ Giving Back Inoar Professional spearheads a bevy of beauty and betterment initiatives across the globe and internally, changing many lives along the way. —TM Human Interest F or Inoar Professional (@inoar_usa), making the world a better place isn't some unreachable ideal; it's a daily driver of operations and ethics. And founder Inocência Manoel wouldn't have it any other way. From delivering soccer balls to homeless children in South Africa to offering free hairstyling services for members of the trans community, the size and scope of the brand's charitable efforts are downright dizzying. Some highlights: The Beauty Project Against Poverty distributes product kits for the underprivileged in several Brazilian states. Volunteers regularly provide services to homeless shelters, from hair washing to delivering clothes and healthcare packages donated by the Inoar Shelter Campaign. And Solidarity in Beauty provides "feminine empowerment through qualifi cation" via pro beauty courses for low-income women in Brazil (the program even added barber training last year). "The entire community benefi ts when local people receive this kind of help," Manoel stresses. "It offers prospects of employment and greatly improves overall living conditions." However, she also knows that benevolence begins at home. Fostering a culture of diversity, the company has included models with Down syndrome and Paralympic athletes in its campaigns, while Manoel's latest annual gathering assembled a panel to discuss participation of people of color, LGBTQs, mature women and other oft-underrepresented groups in advertisements. Then there's the brand's "humanized management practices," including the Project for More Seniors, which helps mature professionals, often women, relocate professionally while disseminating values and skills that motivate and help them join forces with younger generations. In 2018, Inoar won't be slowing down—think more professional training for Solidarity in Beauty; joint initiatives with LGBTQ nonprofi ts and the city of São Paulo; and the Sustainable Beauty Project, which emphasizes proper haircut waste disposal in salons. "At Inoar, we try to refl ect our interest in all kinds of people through our social and communication projects, as well as our daily initiatives," Manoel concludes. "My intent, when I was developing the brand, was to keep in mind the human side." Inoar Professional's new Sustainable Beauty Project aims to tackle haircut waste. First, hair will be properly disposed of and packed by beauty professionals with training and qualifi cation (including handy how-to brochures with guidelines). The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation will provide certifi cation, while Inoar will ensure proper waste treatment.
