34 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | OCTOBER 2017 Trendsetters/ Mood Board ITALY, BELLE & ARCHITECTURE: GETTY IMAGES; COURTESY OF MANUFACTURER (2) Matrix artistic director Robert Santana chats with Launchpad's Jasmine Coreas about fi nding inspiration, color advice and favorite fall trends. The key to creating hair color that truly refl ects the spirit of the client lies in the consultation. Take the time to really hear what each person in your chair has to say." Robert Santana STRONG INSPIRATION I often look to architecture and nature for inspiration. Architecture inspires me in different ways. I look at the shape of the buildings and seek the strong, curved lines and the shadows that these buildings provide. This inspires me to carve out a strong, curved fringe or even an undercut. Regarding nature, there is so much to gain specifi cally in a city like New York where there are so many changes in terms of seasons. It's a great time to create a color change for clients, too. OUTSIDE THE LINES My best coloring tip is to always allow yourself to try new ways and approaches. This will keep you fresh and current. try new ways curved lines and the shadows Artist at Work Santana fi nds hair inspo in Italy. CIAO I love Italy. The citizens' progressive force in fashion colors and haircuts is always inspiring. Women in Italy can be very fashion- forward with their haircuts, especially in Milan. Currently, we're seeing a lot of long hair. It's interesting to see natural fl ow and movement. r es h an d curren t. seein g a lot of lon g hair. It's interestin g t o m o v e m e nt. COLOR BOND My go-to product is the Matrix Bond Ultim8 kit. It's revolutionary in its technology and enables stylists to push the boundaries of color without compromising the health of their clients' hair. HAUNTING GOOD TIME I generally dress up for Halloween. This year as a family we are dressing up as characters from Beauty and the Beast. I will be the beast, my daughter will be Belle, and my son will be a teacup.
