FEBRUARY 2018 | | 89 COURTESY OF MANUFACTURERS Congrats to Esquire Men's Grooming by Farouk Systems, which has been honored with an Excellence Award from the 2017 Paperboard Packaging Council Awards. "Winning this award at such an early stage of the brand's development is an amazing endorsement," notes Celeste Figueroa, director of marketing and communications at Farouk Systems and packaging codesigner. "The Esquire man has discerning taste, so packaging plays a major role in how we tell our brand story. This award is a great testament to the power of the Esquire brand and our strong visual identity." Esquire Excellence Sport Clips helped us help our heroes. Recently, the ever-expanding franchise kicked off its Help A Hero Scholarship campaign at 1,700 locations across the country, with the goal of raising $1 million for those who have served in the military and want to pursue a post-secondary education. To date, Sport Clips and its affi liates have donated more than $3 million to the cause. "Privately funded scholarships are critical to numerous veterans when they seek further education," says Sport Clips founder and CEO Gordon Logan, an Air Force veteran and Veterans of Foreign Wars life member. "This is one of the best ways we can say 'thank you' for what these men and women have given to our country, and it's an honor to serve them through the support of these scholarships." HELPING OUR HEROES Queen of Shade We check in with Matrix artistic director Breck Csicsai for the rundown on her Color Scene class. To learn more about the brand's education, visit Tell us about your class. Color Scene offers a full day of discussion involving the many diverse ways of color formulation and techniques using Matrix color lines. After lunch, we dive into hands-on, where each attendee receives a mannequin so that they can practice all of the morning's color inspirations. What have attendees learned from the class? Attendees walk away with an abundance of knowledge including Matrix Color formulation with Color Sync and watercolors; techniques such as balayage, foiling, color blocking and ombre; along with inspiration from new trends and developing an opportunity for personal growth. What is your favorite part of teaching the class? I love the abundance of color knowledge; my favorite part of teaching is watching the attendees learn and grow during the class, and then seeing them leave with more confi dence. What is the main takeaway you would like students to leave the class with? The main takeaway from Color Scene is that attendees become comfortable with the language and art of color placement, and really understand the how and why of all color. Breck Csicsai Esquire Men's Grooming is a Paperboard Packaging Council winner!
