The U.S. scored double gold at Goldwell's prestigious annual Global Zoom 2017 competition, hosted in Barcelona. More than 3,000 stylists were in attendance to witness the premiere of the brand's Color Zoom '18 collection, ELEMENTAL, and race to win the Color Zoom Challenge. Representing the U.S., Mia Sota from Trio Salon in Chicago won Gold in the Partner Category, while Lauren Kocman from Hair by Scott in Delray Beach, FL, achieved Silver in the Creative Color Category. We're toasting to our hometown heroes for making us proud! Mia Soto wins the gold in the Partner Category for the U.S. at Goldwell's Global Zoom 2017. A model sports loose waves at Prabal Gurung. Natural-looking waves set the stage for Prabal Gurung's pre-fall presentation, courtesy of Hot Tools. "We wanted to create a versatile look that could just as easily be worn at work or for a party," explains Detra Smith, Hot Tools artistic director. "It's meant to look as though the models curled their hair this morning and this is what's left in the afternoon. "The front is smooth and polished," continues Smith, who pinned hair behind the ear with an emphasis on the volume in the crown to show off texture. "The texture extends throughout the ends in the back. The girls with naturally curly texture were left as is, but we blew the hair out with the dryer to create a larger-scale look. It's feminine and pretty but at the same time carefree." MAKING WAVES To help skincare professionals get a jump-start for the New Year, Repêchage hosted its annual Champagne Power Lunch at the company headquarters in Secaucus, NJ, where industry experts dispensed tips to ensure attendees a thriving business in 2018. Among the topics presented, Repêchage founder, CEO and president Lydia Sarfati discussed the need for business owners to understand their clientele and present the correct image in their marketing.
