Our February cover model's gorgeous pastel lilac crop manages to look both daring and delicate, thanks to the top-tier talents of Product Club artist Toni Garcia-Jackson, an American Board Certifi ed Hair Colorist. "I was challenged with creating a look that would turn heads, and at the same time appear soft and feminine," says Garcia-Jackson. Mission accomplished! Here, Garcia-Jackson shares her formulas and technique. Choose your favorite color line to recreate the look. Digital Color Scale Balayage Film 2-in-1 Color Brush @productclub PRODUCT CLUB | KEY PRODUCTS EXPERT TIP On short hair, try using the Product Club 2-in-1 Color Brush to apply lightener; pull very fi ne sections of hair using the pintail side of the tool and apply lightener with the brush side. I wanted to create a high-impact look using subtle tones. I was challenged with creating a look that would turn heads and at the same time appear soft and feminine. Lilac is a sweet pastel that inspires me creatively. —TONI GARCIA-JACKSON FORMULAS A | Lightener + 20-volume developer, 1:2 ratio B | Demi permanent hair color 10VR + 1-inch VR + 1-inch clear + 6-volume developer 1 Create formula A; use the Product Club Digital Color Scale to achieve an accurate ratio, and mix the formula with the Color Whip Electric Color Mixer for an evenly blended, creamy consistency. 2 Apply formula A to the hair and cover with Balayage Film. 3 Process for 50 minutes (on natural level 4 hair), or until lifted to a very pale yellow. 4 Shampoo, condition and towel-dry hair. 5 Apply formula B and process for 20 minutes. 6 Shampoo, condition and style hair.
