102 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | DECEMBER 2017 News CUT: ALLEN RUIZ; STYLING AND COLOR: LUPE VOSS; MAKEUP: ANASTASIA DURASOVA; PHOTO: KEITH BRYCE; HAIR COLOR: AVEDA FULL SPECTRUM JD Beauty Group, the parent company of Wet Brush, has recently acquired Bio Ionic. Jeffrey Davidson, CEO of Wet Brush, couldn't be more pleased at extending the company's offering and what it means going forward. "I am thrilled to have this well-respected and established professional brand join the JD Beauty family," he says. Also just announced: Henkel has taken ownership of former Shiseido brands Joico and Zotos International. "These acquisitions will further strengthen our hair professional business in the US, the world's single biggest hair professional market," says Hans Van Bylen, Henkel's chief executive officer. "These high- performance and high-quality brands are a perfect fit for our beauty care business." COLOR FROM THE BLOCK by Lupe Voss, Aveda artist Inspiration: The color block trend reached peak popularity in the '90s and 2000s, appearing on everything from clothes and handbags to shoes. There is nothing static about these "blocks," which are curved subsections as opposed to geometric shapes. Black and red provide a strong contrast (and conjure '90s vibes) with subtle gray pieces tying it all together, adding texture and accentuating the braids. Lupe Voss alternated four different shades of green and added a hint of pink to create a veil-like lift. To get this look, overlapping crescent moons were worked in toward the front of the hairline, followed by alternating tones. Acquisitions
