ANDREEA ANGELESCU 34 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | SEPTEMBER 2017 Trendsetters/ Runway Report F orget layers and undercuts—throw them out the door. If your client taps the runways for her hair directive, then she's all in for the blunt bob trend that dominated the fall/winter 2017 catwalks. At Alexander Wang, where trend-infl uencing, on-the-fl y haircuts backstage are the norm, Redken (@redken) global creative director Guido lopped off the locks of several models, including the crisp-edged chop he bestowed on show opener Cara Taylor. "I was inspired by cool tomboys this season at Wang," he says. "It's classic Alex Wang; this is the kind of girl that's been out all night at a party—she's the type of girl who everyone wants to hang out with." It should be noted that this isn't the shoulder-grazing—and quite forgiving—lob that dominated all of 2016; this is a chin- skimming, blunt-as-can-be bob that feels '90s adjacent, yet is completely perfect for 2017 scene-stealers. For clients seeking the of-the-moment chop, clue them in to the commitment prior to the fi rst snip; growing out a blunt bob takes more time and patience than a lob—but the coolness factor lasts that much longer. Move over lob: The '90s blunt bob has edged its way back into the hair scene. —KLF BLUNT Let's Be 3.1 Phillip Lim Alexander Wang Isabel Marant Christian Dior Prada Sonia Rykiel Guido chopped Cara Taylor's blunt bob backstage!
