Their story was a love affair that brought us to my grandparents' home in France after the war. Growing up, my family had always talked about the "American Dream," and when I was still a young boy, we decided to move to California. Living a blessed life fi lled with familial love allowed me to expand my creative side through painting. Abstract modernism is my favorite, but I can draw a pretty realistic portrait. I then found that my love of color and texture was a natural fi t for the beauty industry. My passion for hair started at a very young age, when I would style and tint my mother's and her friends' strands instead of doing the paper route. I learned quickly that I was great at mixing colors and holding a conversation, even in my teens. The cornerstone of my education was based in two parts. First, I went to Santa Monica College and got a cosmetology degree. Then I moved to New York City, where I assisted six colorists. That was the best real-life, hands-on education I could have hoped for. It taught me more than technique and blending colors—it also taught me about timing and professionalism. Even though I loved New York, I yearned to come back to sunny California and be closer to my mother. I was so fortunate to work in a few Beverly Hills salons before opening my fi rst studio, B2V. Shortly after, I opened Kim V ¯ o Salons in a few locations. I was also lucky enough to become a Schwarzkopf Professional global BlondMe ambassador (working to create exciting blonde looks has been a blast!). And a new chapter in my life has just begun: opening a concept salon called V ¯ o Blow.
