98 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | JUNE 2017 Top salon owners from across the country gathered in Boca Raton, Florida, for Intercoiffure's Spring Atelier—an exciting weekend featuring awe- inspiring demos of the latest trends, business presentations and hands-on workshops. Special presenters included Dana Lyseng and Anna Vaul for Wella Professionals on hair color contouring; a business segment by Paul Mitchell's Pete Castellanos, Robert Cromeans and Jason Yates; a live photo shoot with the L'Oréal Professionnel team; Sharon Blain's Beyond the Braid presentation for Goldwell; as well as ICA president Frank Gambuzza leading an onstage chat with DJ Muldoon, one of Intercoiffure's newest members. "Intercoiffure was a unique experience," remarks Muldoon. "The members are highly talented and it was great to share a segment of my Knowledge Destroys Fear class with so many of them." Attendees participated in classroom sessions and workshops in color, cutting and upstyling taught by Blain, Muldoon, Belinda Gambuzza and George Alderete. The fun and festivities included a Keune-sponsored cocktail party to kick off the weekend, a special gathering sponsored by Spornette for all new members and partners, and a neon graffi ti dance party sponsored by Hairdreams. "Intercoiffure Spring Atelier did not disappoint!" adds Candy Shaw, a membership chairman who is also on the Board of Directors. "The weekend was fi lled with best business practices, hair trends and the latest in manufacturing technology. Members and partners shared ideas with the forward thinkers of our industry. If you're not yet involved, you owe it to yourself to do so. Intercoiffure is a salon owner's best-kept secret!" —KK News hair share A model from Dana Lyseng's and Anna Vaul's presentation for Wella Professionals! TOP, LEFT: BRYAN ALLEN II POPFIZZ; COURTESY OF MANUFACTURERS; BOTTOM, RIGHT: HAIR & PHOTOGRAPHY: MICHAEL DUEÑAS, MAKEUP: KRISTEE LIU >> GET THE LOOK: Prep damp hair with R+Co HIGH DIVE, then blow-dry with your fi ngers to create volume and lightly smooth the hair. Starting at the nape of the neck, take small horizontal sections and wrap the hair around a ¾-inch curling iron. Wrap each section in different directions until all hair is curled. Spray entire head with a frizz-fending mist and pull hair into a high, tight ponytail on top of the head with an elastic. Pull hair forward so the ends cascade over the forehead and cover the elastic. Take a hairpin, bend the ends into a "U" shape so the hairpin looks like a stretched out "W," and pin the ends to the roots. Finish the look with IGK Dirty Hair; pull some loose pieces down randomly around the hairline. FEELING BLUE Inspiration: Celebrity stylist Michael Dueñas (@michaelduenas) gives new meaning to the term "feeling blue" with a series of stunning shots inspired by the color. For this particular image, he paired perfectly disheveled curls with a blue makeup theme including eyeliner, shadow and mascara, along with a bold orange liner for a dramatic effect. Looks like having a case of the blues isn't so bad after all!
