Tell us about your class. It's called Visual Perspective, which is about looking at things from a different viewpoint or a different angle or perspective. It's hands-on cut, color and style. What have attendees learned from the class? Attendees have learned how to look at things differently and put a cut, color and style together based on what inspires them in their world. What is your favorite part of teaching the class? Sharing the inspiration and some key learning are my favorite aspects of the class; it's really great watching each attendee create their own masterpiece. What is the main takeaway you would like students to leave the class with? Students will leave the class with a great, fresh cutting technique in addition to lots of ins and outs on creating new color patterns and styling tips. What are other classes you would like to teach in the future? I would love to teach more photography classes for Matrix. What advice would you give to stylists considering a Passion class? The classes are all so unique because there the artist's passion comes to life. My advice is to fi nd one that aligns with what you love in the industry and go check it out! Chrystofer Benson SO MUCH MORE SOLA Sola Salon Studios is heading north! The ever-growing U.S. franchise is happily growing and will open its fi rst Canadian-based locations in the Greater Toronto area this year. The company has done outstandingly well with its business model, which allows stylists to take control of their career and work "for themselves, but not by themselves." There are more than 7,000 beauty professionals employed at upwards of 300 Sola Salon Studio locations in the U.S., with no doubt that number will soon be matched in Canada. Ben Jones, CEO for Sola, commented on moving forward with the international expansion: "Over the last few years we've received many inquiries from Canadian hairdressers interested in Sola's concept, and we feel the time could not be better to expand Sola's mission to Canada." Hair We Go Again! Affi nage recently held its annual training day led by national education manager Catie Hansen. The national education team and distributor brand managers spent four days reviewing how to spread brand awareness, use new products and implement a fresh approach to education, in addition to sharing personal techniques and motivation methods. Above all, the focus was on growing productively. "We feel in an industry that is ever-changing that we as a brand need to continually explore new ideas and concepts to encourage overall creativity and growth," notes Hansen. LADIES WHO LASH NovaLash has named its 2017 class of brand ambassadors, a team that includes 18 elite lash artists from around the world, handpicked by CEO Sophy Merszei. The lovely lashers will represent the brand in press meetings, at trade shows, and serve as student mentors— because giving back is part of the fun! Merszei announced how thrilled she is to be working with her lash team, saying, "We are so proud of this talented group of certifi ed professionals. Their knowledge and technique in the application of lash extensions is outstanding. We are thrilled to have this devoted group of beautiful women representing NovaLash."
