MAY 2017 | beautylaunchpad.com | 79 "Now that spring is in full swing with lighter, brighter feelings that come along with the sunny seasons, clients are transitioning into similarly bright, citrusy shades—a natural progression from that rose gold," says Stevie Theoharis, director of marketing for Pulp Riot (@pulpriothair). "In particular, attention has picked up on both a summery yellow and a summery orange (pictured)." Pulp Riot team member Samantha Willoughby conjured up the following formula to create the ultimate bright orange hue for clients: LEFT TO RIGHT: COURTESY OF PULP RIOT; COURTESY OF JOICO YES WAY ROSÉ At ROIL Salon in Beverly Hills, California, owner and stylist Amanda George has been mixing up lots of pink, orange and gold colors to create the perfect subtle rosé shade for her blonde clients. "What was once wrong is now right," says George. First she highlights hair to a light blonde, focusing on the ends to create a subtle ombré; this technique leaves depth and dimension in the hair. She then uses Joico (@joico) Color Intensity in Semi- Permanent Rose with a drop of Semi-Permanent Pink to make it a little brighter than a typical pastel shade. After applying dye to dry hair for 30 minutes, she rinses with cool water and— voilà—a beautiful rosé color is achieved. "It only lasts a couple of weeks so it's perfect if you're looking to have a little fun!" explains George. "I always tell my clients before doing a pastel color that it is more of a stain than a dye!" Pulp Riot squad member Samantha Willoughby is the mastermind behind this tantalizing tangerine shade. SUMMER CITRUS When life gives you lemons (and oranges), make the perfect hair color and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Apply Formula A on roots, then pull through sections sporadically of each for Formulas A, B and C. FORMULAS A: 1 oz. Pulp Riot Lemon + ½" Pulp Riot Fireball B: 1 oz.
