36 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | APRIL 2017 It's important to have dreams and visions of what you'd like to achieve. And at different times in your life, your defi nition of success will change. That's OK." Lakmé's director of education, Wendy Bond, chats with managing editor Kamala Kirk about family, success and her passion for helping others. Strong Bond Trendsetters/ Mood Board TOP, LEFT: COURTESY OF WENDY BOND; TOP, RIGHT AND MIDDLE: COURTESY OF LAKMÉ; BOTTOM LEFT AND RIGHT: GETTY IMAGES NEVER GIVE UP I am most proud of winning the 2010 North American Master Stylist award with my husband, Oscar Bond. Another big accomplishment for me was not giving up on my goal of winning NAHA. I continued to enter NAHA multiple times, even after being chosen as a fi nalist fi ve different times before winning. WENDY BOND NO LIMITS My best friend Robin was a Goldwell color educator; she was one of the fi rst people I ever met who specialized in color. She's incredibly talented and I soon realized that with color, change is possible every time a client sits in your chair. SHINE BRIGHT Lakmé K.Blonde toners in pearl and silver are specifi cally designed to control warmth while conditioning the hair and creating superior shine. I send clients home with Ultra Clair Toning Shampoo and Brightening Treatment, formulated with mother-of-pearl extract and ceramide complex for that luminous shine. A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS I have always been drawn to Richard Avedon's photography. The way he was able to capture beauty with a sense of playfulness was inspiring, as well as his ability to continue to adapt over the decades. His work is incredibly timeless. It's like every time I look at his work, I think to myself, "Wow, I wish I had done that." PAY IT FORWARD There are many aspects of being an educator that I love. Nothing beats that feeling of achievement that both you and your student feel when something clicks. This is the moment that will help shape the way that student works or sees things going forward. I also feel that being an educator forces you to grow and challenge yourself. change is possible FAMILY FIRST My son Morgan, my daughter Audrey, and my husband Oscar are so important to me. I was married for 16 years and was over 40 when I had my two children. Now they are 10 and 13. I truly appreciate them every day, and feel that they keep me young.
