PORTFOLIO 82 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | MARCH 2017 NEUMA INTERNATIONAL DESIGN TEAM MEMBER DARCIE CHAPMAN NURTURES NATURAL BEAUTY IN A GREENHOUSE SETTING. —ANGIE REIBER D E S I G N T E A M M E M B E R Seduction auded in arid climates for their drought-resistant properties, succulents—fl eshy desert plants often found in hues of soft purples and greens—provided the ideal outside-the-box inspiration for Succulent Seduction, the latest collection from Darcie Chapman, Neuma (@neumabeauty) international design team member. "I wanted to make something really unique, and different than a conventional fl oral headpiece," explains Chapman. "Succulents evoke a wild beauty, and their simplicity refl ects the Neuma concept perfectly." A succulent crown and soft, wavy tresses served as the centerpiece during the shoot, set in the Salisbury Greenhouse in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. "The idea sparked from the natural beauty in the greenhouse, and refl ected how much plants matter with Neuma," muses Chapman. "We are a natural haircare line, and we always try to capture some natural elements to make a statement with our editorial work." "I started building the hair for the shoot with Neuma neuStyling Extender, which is great for humidity and to tame fl yaways," details Chapman. "I wanted to build texture to get a wavy, fl owy feel, so I used neuStyling Texturizer, a fl exible fi ber, to add lightweight body and to piece apart the hair." Succulent Greenhouse Lass
