110 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | MARCH 2017 Just Add Color Did you color outside the lines in grade school? If so, you may already be ahead of the game. John Paul Mitchell Systems wants you to show off your most creative, colorful styles possible by entering the Color Outside the Lines competition. The winner of this eye-catching contest will receive a trip to Italy, where their work will be presented at Global Gathering, an industry event for stylists around the world. Colorists are encouraged to submit in the categories of Best New Talent (if you've been working for fi ve years or fewer), Best National Entry (within the US and Canada) or Best International (if abroad). The contest closes on March 15; winners will be announced in April. We can't wait to see your explosive hues! News Beauty On the Clock Inspiration: Clean beauty, especially the kind a "Dior girl" would wear, inspired makeup artist Samantha Klein to create these on-trend looks. Ranging from natural to dramatic, the looks provide client inspiration for any occasion. And the hair? Stylist Roque Cozzette for Amika turned up the 'dos to complement the overall beauty aesthetic. Daytime beauty can be tricky, but a soft, simple palette is a great start to a fl awless-looking visage. A dramatic smoky eye is neither too vampy nor overdone when nudes and plums replace go-to black; even at night the classic muse is the paradigm of sophistication. It's easy to turn back the clock with this retro '80s look, using ombre shadow that extends outward in a deep blue and softens to lilac at the crease.
