102 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | MARCH 2017 News The time for empowHERment is now! Although the beauty industry comprises almost 85 percent women, the majority of those in the spotlight (who are also more highly compensated) are men—going to show that gender inequality in the workforce affects all fi elds. To combat this and highlight how strong women are when we elevate each other, Luxury Brand Partners (LBP) has created the EmpowHERment Project, which consists of a mentorship program, social networking events and gatherings meant to advance the leading women of hair care. "This program will leverage regional grassroots events and the power of social media to create and foster a supportive, collaborative and action-driven community across all ages, genders, skill levels, roles, brands and locations," explains Lyndsey Bardnell, LBP's senior vice president of strategic projects and industry development and president of the EmpowHERment Project, of her goals. Know an inspiring woman working inside—or outside—the salon? Who doesn't? Tag the awesome lady with #followHERfriday and #getempowHERed on social media to show the world why women must be considered as skilled as the men they work alongside. The Notorious B.I.G. L'Anza must be trying to outdo itself. More than 1,000 members of the team touched down in Montego Bay, Jamica for the annual B.I.G. event, or Believe, Inspire, Grow. David Berglass, the company's CEO, shared with guests his vision for the brand, which, thanks in part to the newly released Color Attach, has grown tremendously over the last year. "Beauty is responsibility. Inspiring and helping others to believe in themselves and to grow is our mission," he mused. "Taking individual action to support and protect a healthy and sustainable Earth is our passion." In keeping with the sustainable value system for which L'Anza is known, the event opened up with a "Beauty is Responsibility" runway show, inspired by the elements wind, water and fi re. Throughout the jam-packed weekend, key speakers conducted workshops and talks on topics ranging from New York Fashion Week to cultivating creativity. The event was such a success that the team is already looking forward to the next one, which will take place November 5-7 in Cancun, Mexico. Pow HER ful Together Hughes Revamp RevitaLash Cosmetics and the ReGenesis Hair Enhancing System have joined forces with Tracey Hughes, acclaimed haircare expert. Hughes has been named the new global creative director for the company and will lead education, touring around the US and teaching stylists through workshops and seminars. "I'm thrilled and honored to be representing a company that is built on integrity, love and a passion for natural beauty," says Hughes. "My objective is to excite the industry with stimulating ReGenesis education events that will ignite stylists' creativity and develop their core skills to support personal growth as a salon professional. My philosophy of 'transformation through education' synergizes with the RevitaLash Cosmetics ethos." This is a partnership guaranteed to generate amazing results— we are especially looking forward to the latest inclusive beauty campaign, with Hughes at the helm. A shot from the ReGenesis campaign! CUTTING-EDGE Moroccanoil has proven time and again that the brand is on the cutting edge. This time it's through a literal cutting program: the Moroccanoil Cutting workshop, led by iconic celebrity stylist Peter Gray. Stylists who attended the class learned six distinctive techniques, including how to master the one-length cut, as well as layering and gradation. The three-day program devoted special attention to the art of the consultation, as well as how to tailor a look to a face shape and the importance of facial contours. The cutting program is under the umbrella of the Academy Collection, focused on how core education meets editorial work. Gray put much thought into the structure of the course. "I wanted to create a program for Moroccanoil that provides a solid core of essential cutting techniques and skills. It is clear, concise, easy to use and applicable to daily salon life," he explains. The program ran in New York, Barcelona and Chile this past January.
