90 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | JULY 2016 7PM: I'm at the airport, departing from Los Angeles on a late fl ight to New York City, where I'll be arriving at 1 o'clock on Monday morning—the day of the big event. Already tired, so I'm hoping all the healthy supplements I packed in my suitcase will keep me energized for the hours ahead. Super excited—Met Gala, here I come! Trendsetters/ A-List Confessions of a Robert Vetica captures the day he styled Amber Heard for the 2016 Met Gala on his iPhone, exclusively for Launchpad. —ALYSON OSTERMAN-KERR AMBER: JAMIE MCCARTHY/FILMMAGIC Hollywood Hairstylist 11AM: My view from the hotel where I'm staying, which is down in Tribeca. It's still my favorite location in the city, even on a gray, rainy day like this one. It's all good—going to create some major mane magic tonight with the stunning Amber Heard. 12PM: Preparing my kit: Gotta make sure I have my hairsprays on hand and styling cream to keep the frizzies at bay in this dreary weather. Love Davines haircare products and Olivia Garden tools. 12:15PM: Waiting for my driver to take me uptown to meet Amber at her hotel. I'm carrying way too much stuff, and it's still rainy. Hope it lightens up for tonight's red carpet. 3PM: I fi nally make it to the hotel, and I'm waiting in the lobby—along with every other hairdresser and makeup artist waiting for their call time. 4PM: In the room, combing out a Top Secret Haircessory hairpiece to add length and volume. I'll be putting a few pieces in Amber's hair for an ultra turned-up look. 8:45PM: It's been a long day, and I deserve ricotta cheese pie from Bar Pitti—to die for! 11PM: There's little I love more than drowning out a long day with an eye mask—I can't sleep without one. Bedtime now. Good night. THE DAY BEGINS... THE END! Met Gala: I worked with Amber for two and a half hours, though some of that time was spent waiting for makeup, wardrobe, etc. But this is the end result of my labor. She looks stunning on the red carpet— she could stop traffi c!
