The reigning queen, Olivia Jordan, was all smiles as she met Farouk Shami, CEO and Founder of Farouk Systems Inc., at the brand's corporate headquarters. After having CHI and Miss Universe products and tools used on her own hair the day of the pageant, Jordan relished the opportunity to see how all of the amazing products are manufactured. "It was fun to see everything come to life at the CHI warehouse. I was so impressed, and it was fascinating to see how products go from concept to the shelves," she says. Farouk has been responsible for all the hair glam of the Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and Miss Universe pageants going on 11 years now. "As a leader in the professional salon industry, we know how important it is to support these young ladies in order for them to achieve their goals and provide them with the confi dence they need to look and feel their best," notes Shami. The UK hairstylist was named champion of the American Crew 2015- 2016 All-Star Challenge, which is the annual top global competition for men's grooming and styling. Perovic's winning look was a modern twist on classic James Dean- and Elvis Presley-inspired styles. "I'm shocked and can't believe it happened," she says of her win. "It's an amazing feeling." CHALLENGE CHAMPION As if we needed another reason to love Aveda! The pure product line has been on a mission for clean water for 10 years, and its fi ght is stronger now than ever. To celebrate this milestone, the brand hosted Catwalks for Clean Water 2016 fundraising events throughout Earth Month in April. Over the last decade, Aveda has contributed $38 million to clean water. This money has been raised a number of ways, including donating the full retail value of Light the Way Candles to the Global Greengrants Fund. All of their work has more than paid off—the numbers speak volumes. Aveda has positively impacted more than 817,000 lives in 522 communities, including working with 36,000 women, in the fi ght for potable water. Aveda's Light the Way Candle 10 YEARS STRONG Marathon Men Giving should never stop, no matter where you are in your career. Both Pravana Founder and CEO Steve Goddard and longtime friend Kevin Wachs, CEO of Earthly Body Inc., took time out of their busy schedules to participate in the Victory for Victims 5K/10K Walk/Run to benefi t the Center for Assault Treatment Services. The charity is a round-the-clock immediate response program that serves both children and adult victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. This is not the fi rst community cause taken up by the ultra- giving duo. Last year, both produced and performed in a Beach Boys tribute, which raised $20,000 for City of Hope to fi ght against cancer.
