The "Back to the Future" class revisits my father Freddy French's (French of London) illustrious career in the hairdressing industry and draws from his techniques—from the past to the present day—in a fresh new way. This is also a very rare glimpse of the past through press books and fi lm from the 1940s onwards. What do attendees learn from the class? The attendees learn numerous techniques, tips and tricks that will take their dress work and fi nishing skills to a different level. These techniques have been drawn from almost 90 years of experience of the "French Family of Hair." What is your favorite part of teaching the class? Revisiting my father's and my past work. What is the main takeaway you would like students to leave the class with? The students will have a new understanding of the learning process. Not only will they get a handle on new tricks, they will be instilled with a new awareness. They will have an eye for education that consists of what they watch, what they listen to, what they read, what they think about and their associations. I feel attitude determines altitude. What classes would you like to teach in the future? I am very passionate about creating a highly creative and original avant-garde course, having been a four-time Avant Garde NAHA Winner and 12-time fi nalist, to inspire and motivate professional hairdressers. Turbulence and challenging of the mind are key; being out of your comfort zone is part of the attendees' quest for excellence. What advice would you give for stylists considering a Passion class? Come with an open mind and a thirst for further education.
