52 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | JUNE 2016 Repêchage offers a wealth of scientifi cally sound, business-building education designed to elevate estheticians around the globe. —TRACY MORIN Live & Learn/ Learning Curve World Class W hen it comes to education, Repêchage ( President and CEO Lydia Sarfati shuns the lip service and leads by example, collaborating with top scientifi c minds to tirelessly expand the knowledge of professionals. Fresh off a whirlwind tour of three trade shows spanning from Chicago to Bologna, Italy, she touts the top-notch protocol taught by her team at the Lydia Sarfati Post- Graduate Skin Care Academy at Repêchage headquarters in Secaucus, New Jersey, as well as the touring and online education that reaches skincare experts everywhere. "Education has been the fundamental core of our existence for the last 37 years," Sarfati beams. "Our difference is that we don't just teach products and methods; we teach the scientifi c understanding of skin functions and histology." Sarfati laments that as pros clamor for the newest techniques, too many overlook the basics—facial bone structure, layers of skin, proper pH levels—while accepting web-based misinformation as truth. But she helps fi x this "worldwide disease" through product-neutral CIDESCO courses four times per year at trade shows, covering fundamentals from effl eurage techniques to the location of the lymph nodes. Meanwhile, academy classes at Repêchage tackle the art and science of face and body massage; business-boosting tips (think retailing, marketing and team building); clinical facial treatments, including skin types and conditions; waxing; body treatments; and more. "The exciting part is that people want to learn," Sarfati notes. "They realize that they're lacking in knowledge, and they're hungry for education." Ever on the lookout for new ways to help skincare businesses succeed, Sarfati recently created a course called Oncology Esthetics, developed by demand from professionals who want to help their cancer- stricken clients. And the in-depth Lydia Sarfati 3-Day Master Class (designed for seasoned estheticians) at her academy spans subjects from waxing to massage to proper extractions—everything needed to raise the service bar. "With education, I share not only how to build a clientele and give customers what they want, but the golden rules of the spa and skincare business," Sarfati explains. "When people thank me for helping them become successful, that's the best gift I can receive." MARK YOUR CALENDAR! Lydia Sarfati maintains a frenetic education schedule; check out some upcoming U.S. appearances. June 4-6: Premiere Orlando, Orlando, FL June 25-27: IECSC, Las Vegas, (CIDESCO courses) July 11-13: Lydia Sarfati 3-Day Master Class, Secaucus, NJ August 8-10: Oncology Esthetics, Secaucus, NJ Advanced facial techniques are taught at the Lydia Sarfati Post- Graduate Skin Care Academy.
