Friends and family, scholars and artists, revolutionaries and the bourgeoisie might all come together to ponder grand ideas in this relaxed milieu. The Drawing Room New York is likewise a place where modern movers and shakers gather, yet this TIGI-affi liated salon boasts one additional boon—you can get a rad haircut or killer color while gabbing. Owner Clyde Elezi's love affair with hair fi rst sparked in 1995, and the Athens native soon quit Greece for London. "I went to train with Toni & Guy, then came stateside to work at Vidal Sassoon," he recalls. That was the turning point, as the move brought him to New York, where the stylist was inspired by SoHo's artsy vibe. Seven years ago, he opened shop in this historic downtown neighborhood. Modeled in the image of a sleekly modern loft, the salon manages to simultaneously feel both welcoming and exclusive. "All our furniture was designed for home use and carefully selected from various studios around the world to create the ambiance of an intimate, private space," Elezi explains. Shampoo bowls and styling chairs, purchased at Gamma & Bross USA, are the only exception to this decor rule. Artistic appreciation further extends to the care of strands themselves. "An individual's hair is like a work of art—intricate, sophisticated and extraordinary," Elezi muses. "We are continuously moved by the poetic beauty of hair and the dynamic fashion industry that surrounds us." To consistently attain elevated standards of excellence, TIGI-trained stylists study with mane masters in both the U.S. and Europe. "We also offer in-house education classes on Mondays when the salon is closed, and routinely encourage pros to attend seminars and courses at the TIGI Academy," says Elezi. Fun perks likewise benefi t clients: Every customer is automatically enrolled in a service program that rewards loyalty with sweet treats like 10 percent off products and 30 percent off services.
