20 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | MAY 2016 T he fashion house Hervé Léger celebrated its 30th anniversary with the Spring 2016 season, and the corresponding looks were looser, more organic in tone. To complement this shift from body-con bandage dress to fi t-and-fl are frocks and even—gasp!—trousers, the hair took a similarly casual yet chic turn. "It's a new, softer look for our Hervé Léger girl this season," says Orlando Pita, who manned the backstage hair chaos. "She's still creating a strong statement with the braid, but we've played with making it more relaxed with purposely pulled out loose pieces that frame her face and create beautiful movement when she walks." The look, perfectly executed, shows a woman who's powerful yet feminine, classy yet cool and oh-so now. Here's to the next 30 years! Orlando Pita creates a wispy plait perfect for a fete or festival. —AMY DODDS On the Cover Made in the BRAID ANTONELLO TROP/IMAXTREE.COM (2) CREATE THE LOOK 1. Apply a volumizing root-lifting cream from roots to ends. 2. Blow dry with a round boar bristle brush. 3. Create a deep side part. Starting from the crown, create a Dutch braid down across the forehead. 4. Feed hair from underneath so the braid is raised up and let a few strands fall to create additional texture. 5. Secure the braid into a low pony at the nape of the neck with a small elastic band, and pull over the shoulder. 6. Finish the look with a brushable hairspray for light hold.
