When a few hundred attendees were invited to watch the world premiere of Luxury Brand Partners' (LBP) new documentary The Reset from R+Co's Howard McLaren, they were asked to consider how the salon industry has changed, and how it can be made even better. And for the 3,300 stylists who attended the edu-tainment extravaganza Front Row in Miami, one answer became apparent: Join us. Dubbed by LBP's CEO Tev Finger as the "Coachella of the hair world," and held in the Wynwood Arts District—quickly becoming known as the area's budding epicenter of artistic creativity—the highly anticipated extravaganza provided a talented lineup of top artists, including The Oribe Hair Care Education Team (James Pecis, Ronnie Stam, Kien Hoang, Coby Alcantar, Joey George), alongside Vivienne Mackinder, Nicci Welsh and a color presentation from Goldwell. Vaughn Acord and the V76 Education Team; R+Co Co-Founders Garren, Howard McLaren, and Thom Priano; Dineh Mohajer of Smith & Cult; and the Butterfl y Circus crew produced presentations on the main stage. Along with inspired on-stage education demos and hands-on segments, the weekend was chock-full of keynote speeches meant to reinvigorate both the stylist and salon owner. Jim Collins, best-selling author of Good to Great and Built to Last, and Simon Doonan, the illustrious Barneys "window dresser," offered a multitude of tips on taking your salon's brand to the next level. In addition to the weekend-long celebration of styling, attendees teed off at the Oribe Open Golf Tournament, took a dip at the Smith & Cult Plastic Beach Pool Party, showed their hand at the Tex Hold 'Em Poker Tournament and danced the night away at the STORY nightclub kickoff party. "We do this to celebrate the craft of hairdressers—to inspire and elevate our industry because change starts with education, learning and implementation," says Daniel Kaner, Co-President of Oribe Hair Care. —AMY DODDS Miami Heat Luxury Brand Partners' Front Row event celebrates art and artistry. Goldwell gives a color-rich performance. Kien Hoang re-creates the styles he did for The Blondes runway presentation. The festival-like atmosphere included areas for attendees to relax—or in this case, play Oribe Pinball! Industry icon Vivienne Mackinder shares her knowledge.
