26 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | APRIL 2016 ARBOR DAY ARDOR Surface partners with the Arbor Day Foundation, and has planted more than 2,500 trees to date. Although Arbor Day is typically celebrated on the last Friday in April, several states celebrate the holiday at different periods of spring, in accordance with the best planting time in their region. Conversations/ Launches Prime Condition Superior lightening from nature? The concept may sound too good to be true, but Surface (surfacehair.com) has found a way to turn dream into reality, just in time for Earth Month. Introducing Pure Blonde, a dye system that thinks it's a conditioner. As you know, natural haircolor comes from melanin formed deep within bulbs. Lightening processes force follicles to swell so that oxidizers may enter, which has the adverse side effect of breaking melanin and protein bonds, thereby resulting in fragmentation. How to combat such harmful results? Surface fi rst turned to lipid-rich babassu oil, sourced from a palm found in the bountifully diverse Amazon rainforest. "This organic agent helps oxidizers penetrate deeper for fast on-tone lifting, while simultaneously soothing and conditioning," explains Founder and CEO Wayne Grund. Amaranth, aka "the never-fading fl ower," rebuilds those fractured structural bonds, while all-natural moringa plant extract serves as the ultimate scavenger, scrubbing strands of free radicals. Finally, patented Color Vita Complex realigns fi bers to ensure pure color optics—read: Strands never look brassy. "We're committed to respecting clients' health, as well as the well-being of our planet, which is why Pure Blonde is free of ammonia, dust, parabens, gluten, mineral oil, phthalates, propylene glycol and PPD," notes Grund. Smart blondes, to be sure! Ingredients and Benefi ts BABASSU OIL is a light yellow-colored oil derived from Amazonian babassu palm trees. It contains about 70 percent lipids, meaning it's extremely conditioning. AMARANTH are perennial plants whose name is derived from the Greek meaning "unfading fl ower." It contains the amino acid lysine, which aids in strengthening hair. MORINGA is packed with vitamins, nutrients and minerals. It is known to moisturize the scalp, prevent split ends, strengthen hair and fi ght follicle loss. BOTTOM: GETTY IMAGES (2)
