24 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | NOVEMBER 2018 Trendsetters/Runway Report I s she running away or standing still? The trickery employed by hairstylists for seriously static styles made the hair look as though it had been chiseled and molded in mid-fl ip, fl are or blow. For the petrifi ed asymmetrical mane design at Yohji Yamamoto, Wella Professionals (@wellahair) global creative director of care and styling Eugene Souleiman felt inspired by Pablo Picasso and cubism, and fi ttingly kicked hair straight up and out to the right, creating the illusion that a strong directional wind blasted the model with no relent. You'd be forgiven if you thought the braid at Jil Sander was mid-swing as the models strutted down the runway—but alas, Souleiman once again defi ed gravity, suspending the plait to one side with copious amounts of gel so that it barely fl uttered with each footfall. Though the overall looks may vary, one thing's for sure: You'll want to lock in on these inspiring frozen-in-motion styles.
