82 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | JANUARY 2018 News Tracey Hughes, Vice President of Global Education, L'ANZA Healing Haircare What are you most excited about in your new role? I'm thrilled to align with a company of such integrity and I love the culture within the L'ANZA tribe! I'm excited to be working on the overall strategy of our vision for education at L'ANZA, so looking at how we can develop our network of artists and leverage the programs that we deliver. My biggest goal is to build our digital content and provide more education materials to our community. I'm humbled to be in such an infl uential position where I can continue to serve our industry while growing brand recognition. How do you keep education exciting? Education must be engaging so the learner can develop the ability to discover the information or skill. The most excitement is generated when stylists face their fears, get out of their comfort zones, push boundaries and learn how to pioneer something that is unique to them. What do you do when you're not working? Due to a manic schedule, when I'm not hopping on and off a plane, I like to spend as much time at home with my husband and our two gorgeous dogs. I'm a huge animal lover! What's your favorite vacation destination? Vietnam. I love the people and the culture. Anywhere there is sun, sand, shopping, spas and great food, I'm a happy girl! Amanda Jenkins, Global Director of Education, ECRU New York What are you most excited about in your new role? I get to do what I love: educate. I'm so happy to be part of this remarkably talented team of hairstylists that are committed to sharing their craft with other stylists around the world. What makes this so much fun is the opportunity to continue building a team and establishing a global educational program that will add to the lives and careers of so many. How has your experience helped prepare you for your position? I have always believed, since early on in my career, that education is key to success, so I have always surrounded myself with amazing people who I could learn and grow from. TONI&GUY; molded my abilities as an educator, teaching me discipline and effective training techniques. I was able to work closely with Guy and Zak Mascolo, and a woman that I will never forget, Zoë Harte. I still think of her today, and how I want to infl uence people the same way she infl uenced me. For the past 14 years, I've been on an amazing ride with ARROJO, helping Nick grow his education-based company. I feel like these experiences have all led up to where I am today as global director of education at ECRU New York. What would you be doing if you weren't a stylist? I would probably be a baker. Baking elaborate cakes is my hobby. How do you decompress? I love to run. It's my form of meditation. What's your favorite comfort food? Italian. GETTING TO KNOW YOU Meet the industry's movers and shakers. COURTESY OF MANUFACTURERS; GETTY IMAGES (3) Rachel Schafer, Managing Director, Cuccio Colour How has your experience helped prepare you for your position? One of my fi rst jobs in the beauty industry was as a counter manager for Prescriptives (one of the original Estée Lauder Companies). As a skin care and foundation company, Prescriptives was amazing with education and really taught us to see skin undertones, and understand how color families correlate to those individual undertones. After all this time, I still use that education in terms of nails to develop universal hues so my collections will have something for everyone. How do you create the perfect color? Development is multi-tiered. I want to produce a brilliant hue that's on trend and also lends its wearer confi dence. What do you do when you're not working? I'm crazy about my pug! We do everything together—including three (or more) monthly meet- ups and events with other friends in the pug community. How do you unwind? Quiet and scenic rides with my boyfriend on his vintage 1955 Vespa; I love feeling the wind in my hair.
