88 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | OCTOBER 2017 News Colleen Martorano, vice president of sales, ECRU New York and Lakmé USA What are you most excited about in your new role? I see both ECRU New York and Lakmé USA as incredible ways to be inclusive with stylists by providing strong education and product innovation for salons of all sizes, starting from the solo artist. How has your experience up to this point helped prepare you for your new position? I'm lucky to have had several amazing mentors during my career, ranging from creative artists and salon owners to executives. Working alongside the best in the industry has been key in preparing me for this role. What is your vision for the education program? A huge part of ECRU New York's DNA is our connection to emerging young designers. Our creative director, Lisa Lobosco, has created the hair fashion trends for many top fashion designers at New York Fashion Week. Our education is designed to serve up the trends from the runway to salon professionals through digital trend reports, interactive education and live backstage feeds. A new educational center will be completed at our corporate headquarters in Fairlawn, New Jersey, which will offer styling and cutting from the ECRU team and editorial artists, as well as business seminars. The expansion will also include programs in Los Angeles, London and New York, and will offer opportunities to become part of the ECRU New York creative talent. As communication is vital for education, especially when launching new color collections, Lakmé's primary focus will be on digital education to stay connected with the stylists. We offer a robust education program with comprehensive technical training as well as inspirational education. Our upcoming launch of the Pure Color Collection is the perfect example of this with online tutorials, videos, as well as detailed step-by-step manuals and hands-on education with creative director Wendy Bond. What do you do when you're not working? My husband and I recently bought a house that we are renovating and I have become a bit obsessed with making the perfect home. HGTV is to blame! What's your ultimate comfort food? Any type of noodle soup.
