MAKE A GRATITUDE LIST. Make a quick gratitude list when you wake up. Write it down daily or speak it out loud; this way, you become conscious about what really matters to you. During your morning gratitude list, take eight to 12 long, deep inhales and exhales. A life without gratitude is not truly existing. 42 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | OCTOBER 2017 Live & Learn/ Quick Tips Help clients decrease their stress levels with these savvy tips from Eden Sassoon. Stress Less H airdressers do more than simply style tresses—they also fulfi ll the role of therapist by offering advice and support to their clients. While each guest's individual issues may differ, they all share one thing in common: stress. And if there's one person who understands stress, it's Eden Sassoon—the daughter of beauty industry icon Vidal Sassoon. A television personality, entrepreneur (she owns a full service salon and two Pilates studios), and founder of the nonprofi t organization Beauty Gives Back, Sassoon faces daily challenges as a single mother of two with multiple obligations. But instead of letting them overcome her, she remains in control by practicing effective stress management. "We all have stress, but it's how we process it that makes a difference," says Sassoon. "I live my life leading by example, and when I choose to be the best version of myself, stress just becomes another word that holds no meaning!" Here, she shares fi ve stress busting tips that you can pass on to your clients. —As told to KK WORK OUT. Before the day gets too busy or when you're tired and ready to put your feet up, work out! The brain, if not disciplined, will let your body be lazy, but the body wants oxygen and fresh blood for so many reasons other than looking good. Aim for 30 to 60 minutes, fi ve to seven days a week. BE POSITIVE AND PRESENT. Give yourself a pat on the back knowing your choices are the right ones. Show up ready and open to what your day will bring you. If you come from a place of calm, you will see calm and act accordingly; if you come from a place of love, you will see love; and if you come from a place of chaos and stress, you will see chaos and stress. During your drive to work, be grateful you are alive and have a new day to create and evolve. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST. When my life is in order and I'm fulfi lling my responsibilities, then I have no reason to have stress in my life. I watched my father who came from absolutely nothing create change in the world as he knew it. He made the right choices when it came to living a healthy lifestyle because he knew that where he wanted to go, there was no space for failure. CREATE A VISION BOARD. Take two large poster boards and use photos, magazines, old letters, whatever you can to be the most creative and emotionally vulnerable. With one board, create your life today, exactly how you see it. Then take the other board and put all that you are grateful for and what you feel your life's true purpose is on it. Having a visual picture to look at daily will create a bigger story and allow you to disengage with intention when something ruffl es your feathers. • Since I'm single, mine has an image of a physically fi t man who is working out. • Fruits and veggies symbolizing a healthy lifestyle. Eden's Visions The beauty expert shares what's on her vision board. • Words that inspire me. • A pilates bed and yoga postures to represent my studios. • A photo of Oprah and Nelson Mandela for inspiration. • A few nice things like Cartier that I want and work hard for. • Water for my Beauty Gives Back organization, which unites the hair industry in fi ghting the global water crisis.
