34 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | AUGUST 2017 G rowing up, Brayden Pelletier knew one thing about the beauty industry: His hairdresser, Phil, was a cool guy. But sometimes a seemingly small tidbit is big enough to change a life, and that acquaintanceship helped Pelletier score a part-time gig at the shop where Phil worked. "I was a fi x-it guy during my senior year of high school," Pelletier recalls. After graduation he went to college where he was injured while playing sports, had surgery and returned home to the Peach State to pick up with the same company—but this time, as a stylist. Over the next 15 years, he advanced from apprentice to his current role as Redken global artist and owner of Just B Hair Salon in Duluth, Georgia. The result blends city cool with boutique chic. Case in point: sleek Minerva Beauty equipment offset by quirky, handpicked vintage pieces. Notes Pelletier, "I wanted to create an atmosphere where every person of every age feels comfortable." Clients may be drawn by the ambiance, but they return because of the pro's fervent belief in technical precision achieved through education. "We must learn at the highest levels while continuously working to develop skills," the entrepreneur enthuses. "That allows us to deliver unforgettable experiences and amazing hair."
