"The fi rst step to achieving a crown braid is creating a voluminous base," says celebrity stylist Vernon François. "You can do this by applying conditioner just to the ends of hair after shampooing, and then using a mousse or pomade before blow-drying. Then you're ready to add the braids!" Here, he shares how to create the perfect crown braid worthy of a dancing queen. " Start by tying tresses back into a ponytail, then pull out two pieces of hair in the front to make the look loose and fl irty. " Next, create a big beautiful braid. For short hair, add extensions to achieve desired length. For longer hair, begin the braid at the front of the ear in order to maximize length. " Backcomb or pull out pieces to create a more bohemian look. After creating the desired braid, pin the extensions at the nape of the neck and wrap around the top of the head.
