"I hated going because they consistently cut my hair too short!" laughs the eponymous salon owner, who always had an eye for fashion. When he turned 12, he began trimming and shaping his own strands, then later moved to London for advanced training at Vidal Sassoon. Yet perhaps surprisingly, owning a salon was not a lifelong dream for this intrepid entrepreneur. Instead, it came about as a result of his naturally effusive nature. "I grew up in a culture where people kiss and hug to say hello, so that's how I always greeted clients," Knister reveals. One day his boss criticized that habit as overly friendly, and it was at that very moment the pro decided to launch his own business.
