That's why his spring/summer 2017 collection harkens back to punk's early days in the mid-70s, when railing against the government (those who make the rules) through music, literature and art fueled a subculture that still plays out today. "We're touching upon the real beginnings of punk, when it was an attitude, not a fashion," says Evo hair lead Kenna Kennor. "It's all about a feeling." That feeling is "disinterested" (in fact, one jacket reads "We Hate Everything"—an apt phrase for those who could care less), and that aloof approach plays out in the hair via seemingly leftover styling clips. (The clips in question: Evo Clip-ity Clap Setting Clips.) But even if these anarchists are supposed to be apathetic in their attitude toward beauty, a whole series of steps are taken to net the end result. To begin, Kennor mists Salty Dog Salt Spray (@evohair) throughout the hair, concentrating on the back of the head. "This spray doesn't dull hair," he stresses, noting that even though this style is punk in its origins, he still disses dullness. He chooses a center part ("it goes well with the geometric clothing") and then backcombs at the crown using the Truman Tail Comb. After brushing up a bit of height, Kennor pins back the sides, noting, "I want to keep the silhouette narrow from the front view. This style is more about the silhouettes—height from the side, narrow through the front. And we're exposing the ears, too—that lends a feeling of imperfection." He tucks the aforementioned Clip-ity Claps above each ear, and then sprays Shebang-a-bang Dry Spray Wax onto the roots for a touch of "grease" followed by a dusting of Haze Styling Powder to impart just the right amount of "lifted punk texture." If only apathy played out so beautifully into other aspects of life! We Hate Disaffected youth with a punk attitude: The hairstyle at Libertine is all about not giving a you-know-what. —KLF Hero Product Typically removed for the fi nal look, the Evo Clip-ity Clap Setting Clips become the focal point of this too-cool style. Care Hair A slew of product and steps go into the making of this put-off punk look. EVERY THING
