APRIL 2017 | beautylaunchpad.com | 89 EMILIE BRANCH 2017 is off to a bright start. To prove that vivid color is here to stay, Clairol Professional gathered beauty insiders to experience the game-changing potential of its new permanent color collection Flare Me at the Wella World Studio in New York City. To introduce the brand, attendees were instructed to "bring out their inner artist," gaining inspiration from the line's shades with a DIY pastry experience. This meant getting hands-on with color, decorating cupcakes in any range of combinations including pink, lilac and teal—all characteristic of the new range, which features pastels and vivids exclusively. This shows just how responsive the market is to accommodate the technicolor trend in hair, which has ever-increasingly populated newsfeeds over the last few years. Translation: Your clients are more empowered than ever to cross over into color, and Clairol Professional has your back. Flare Me is highly customizable so you can tailor tints unique to your client. The brand is geared for the "everyday artist," and would also work on anyone who is in the chair for a revamp. After all, nothing says "spring ready" like subtle rose gold peekaboo highlights blended into buttery bronde. Kiyah Wright, celebrity stylist and self- proclaimed "salon stylist at heart" was on- hand at Wella World to talk attendees through the ins and outs of the exciting line. She attests that results are delivered with just one shot—what you see on the bottle is what you get on the hair. Color lasts up to fi ve weeks, which as we all know is a huge increase in wearability. It is much to our clients' dismay when a newly minted hue fades after just one shampoo! "Most of the colors we know are rinse on, rinse off," Wright explains. "But this is a permanent color collection, and not only is it for the everyday artist, but it's for the everyday woman too." Of course to get hair to appear as vivid as it can it must be pre- lightened, or at least a Level 7. Wright explains her favorite trends for 2017, which sound like an exciting rainbow. She names colorful ombre roots, which start out a deep rich shade at the roots and even out into a pale tone at the tips, fi rst. Her color of choice? Queen of Green, which is a saturated teal or light mint, depending on how much of the clear dilution serum you decide to add. Whether you add 25 percent, 50 percent or even a 75 percent, your mixing ratio yields three very distinct colors. The opportunity for versatility is limitless. "Those are the things I look for as an artist," says Wright, "that I can get this cool variety with these seven base colors." Whether clients or cupcakes, these seven striking vivids can transform any blank slate into a multi-tonal masterpiece. Just Add FLARE 1 Celebrity stylist Kiyah Wright with the Flare Me models, who are wearing Tough as Teal, Turn Their Heads Red and Make 'Em Blush Pink hues 2 The fi nished cupcakes look too good to eat. 3 Wright decorates a cupcake in Flare Me colors. 4 Clairol Professional Flare Me shades! 1 2 3 4
