100 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | MARCH 2017 News —EMILIE BRANCH Congratulations to Affi nage's global ambassador, hairstyling icon Tracey Devine Smith. Smith was honored with the Terry Calvert Image of the Year Award at The Fellowship for British Hairdressing's The Luncheon & Awards for her outstanding creativity and work on the Candy Pop Collection. Smith's winning look took a blunt bob to new levels of delicious, working in a buttery mango shade to the tips of an otherwise pastel lilac tone. More than 450 attendees came out to support the Fellowship, which has been going strong for 70 years. Smith was over the moon at receiving the notable award. "I am so ecstatic and proud of this honor," she enthused. "Thank you to Affi nage for everything and to the Fellowship for its ongoing support. The world really does shine bright with many stars, and I am blessed to accept this award." Tracey Devine Smith's winning look A Splash of Mango Whirlwind Week Dermalogica, headed by chief visionary and cofounder Jane Wurwand, is making incredible strides for women in beauty. The brand's FITE Entrepreneur Accelerator program, co-created with Operation Hope and the Small Business Administration, supports women around the world, giving them the tools to be entrepreneurs in beauty. The program is expected to be a tremendous success, impacting more than 100,000 women over the next three years. So naturally, the project had a presence at Global Entrepreneurship Week, with Wurwand speaking at the White House alongside Small Business administrator Maria Contreras Sweet, to kick off the event. Wurwand brought attention to the fact that successfully grooming women to be salon professionals will change the global economy. Wurwand was also a key speaker at the Future Industry Entrepreneurs Day, where she shared her mother's advice—"learn to do something"—with 150 students. "Entrepreneurship is an additional skill set—one that requires fi nancial literacy and understanding how to run a business. We want to help you unlock the next step by bringing fi nancial literacy and entrepreneurship training to become successful entrepreneurs," she urged.
