90 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | JANUARY 2017 News Nearly 1,000 salon owners, stylists and educators traveled to San Diego for two days of education and inspiration at the Eufora Global Connection. The event was bittersweet as it was the fi rst organized without cofounder Don Bewley, who tragically passed away days before last year's event. "It's a special weekend," beamed cofounder and wife Beth Bewley after she walked onstage to a standing ovation. "Our hope is to teach, inspire and give you something to take back to salon," Bewley expressed before opening the show with a tribute to Don and stimulating hair presentations from top artists. To that end, in addition to inspirational hairstyles and show-stopping runway presentations, motivational speaker Christine Cashen encouraged attendees to "Stop Global Whining!" She offered a bounty of ways to improve outlook and perception, including taking ownership of your emotional state. "Remember," Cashen cautioned, "people don't really like you for you—they like you for how you make them feel. You can be the fountain or the drain." The evening saw an amazing presentation from creative director Philip Carreon during a black tie gala, which also served as a venue for the Eufora Stylist of the Year awards (see sidebar). Day two featured inspirational breakout sessions and a closing artistic runway presentation. "This weekend was a celebration of our past and where we're going," Bewley said. "Let's enjoy the ride!" —AMY DODDS Here We Go! Contemporary Classic: David Barron. "Guys, I'm completely gob-smacked!" Color Vision: Vanessa Rockey del Bono. "In 2010, there was a man who told me I had to enter, and he was Don Bewley. I've entered 10 times and this is my fi rst win." New Talent: Kayla Bushey. "I've been a stylist since January. I've had one of the best mentors: Dee Fortier." Makeover: Tracy Mayfi eld. "Holy cow! I've been at the same salon for 21 years, telling my young talent to follow their dreams. I thought, 'I'm not that old, I should do it too.'" Men's Trend: Luka Paprica. "I thank my salon and my peers and the Eufora team. I wouldn't be here without you." Avant-Garde: Jeannie Jachman. "OK, so this is really happening. Wow. I feel like I'm saying a lot and not enough at the same time." Team Collaboration: Studio 700. "I cannot believe this is even happening and that I didn't fall!" Eufora Friends Award: Bryan Nunes of Blo Salon in Raleigh, NC, raised more than $23,000 for ChildHelp. Eufora Stylist of the Year Awards: In their own words Executive vice president of sales Fred Phillips joins cofounder Beth Bewley onstage to welcome attendees. One of Philip Carreon's looks from the black tie gala! Dark and beautiful models styled with Eufora products. Wouldn't you love it if everything were at your fi ngertips? Well, you are one step closer to that goal thanks to the new CosmoProf App. Launching January 1, the app allows for taking payments via Square, storing client info, creating customizable schedules, gleaning inspiration and education, receiving exclusive off ers and benefi ts, and digitally recommending products to clients while receiving commission. Oh, and it's free! "I was using fi ve diff erent apps to run my business, which is really hard," relays Christina Kreitel, stylist and owner of Intrepid Studio Salon in Utah. "And now it's all in one convenient space, and I'm very excited about that." Thanks to the app, CosmoProf believes you'll have more time to spend with your clients rather than running your business—but we won't judge if you spend a little extra time watching cute kitten videos too.
