74 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | MAY 2016 Pai-Shau Global Creative Director Rob Pizzuti shares with Executive Editor Amy Dodds about his creative process and what moves him. Pure Passion Trendsetters/ Mood Board GETTY IMAGES (3); JENNIFER: DONATO SARDELLA/GETTY IMAGES FOR THE DAILY FRONT ROW Open your eyes, shut your mouth and listen... I know this sounds funny but the older I get, the more I realize you can learn so much by following those few little words. Everything moves so fast nowadays that people forget to just stop and listen." ROB PIZZUTI The Japanese Footbridge, by Claude Monet VENICE, ITALY JENNY FROM THE BLOCK Jennifer Lopez just keeps looking better. I really admire the way she always credits her hair and makeup artists for bringing her to A-list level. HAPPY ACCIDENT A few years back I went to Italy and had no intention of visiting Venice—absolutely breathtaking. I felt like I was on a movie set. Can't get those images out of my head and would love to get married there one day. EYE-CATCHER Creatively, I take bits and pieces of anything that catches my eye or elicits a positive reaction. Whether it's art, graffi ti or fashion, I use it all as inspiration to mold into a new technique for hair. THE TEST OF TIME I was asked to test and help develop the new Pai-Shau products two years ago, before they hit the market. I was amazed at their performance and quality, and have used them in different ways to make my makeovers simple, safe and with insanely shiny results. With them, I now have new tools to help push my creativity to a higher level. WHAT GOES AROUND… I was only 14 when I started in the industry part-time and just had fun with all of my amazing clients. I began working professionally at 20 years old and wanted to be on stage, inspiring others the way industry leaders of the '80s had done for me. Now I have my sights set on educating. I love watching my own students develop into amazing stylists who inspire others. MAKING AN IMPRESSION I've always been a huge fan of Claude Monet and his use of watercolors to create an emotional response. CREATIVE JUICES My creative process is pretty interesting. I will think of something, speak text into my phone so I don't forget it, then later draw it out on a Post-it note and stick it on a wall. I'll look and add to it over the next few days, then attempt what I'm thinking about on a model.
