Author William Arthur Ward once said, "Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it." In the spirit of the season, we offer up suggestions to create a thankful atmosphere in your salon all year long. —ANGIE REIBER GETTY IMAGES An Attitude of GRATITUDE Live & Learn/ Quick Tips 42 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | DECEMBER 2015 A CREATE A GRATITUDE BOARD. Hang a large bulletin or white board in the break room or designate some wall space, and keep sticky notes and markers close by. Encourage stylists and salon staff to leave notes of praise for their coworkers for acts big or small. For example, "Thanks Casey, for getting my client coffee while she was processing!" or "April's jokes always put me in a better mood after a tough client. Don't know what I'd do without her!" Working together for the greater good will bond you as a salon family and foster feelings of respect and compassion for those less fortunate. SEND THANK-YOU NOTES. Mail one to new clients to let them know you enjoyed meeting them, existing clients who send new business your way or both! Keep a stash of notecards in the salon for just this purpose, and be sure to handwrite for a personal touch. Emails can be an effective option if you'd rather go green—but who doesn't love getting (non-junk) mail? share accolades,
