102 | BEAUTY LAUNCHPAD | DECEMBER 2015 News UNITE Class Is In Session F or two action-packed days, attendees at UNITE Global Session London were treated to amazing education, innovation and inspiration. Held at the historic Shoreditch Town Hall, the event showcased the talents of 16 international artists who presented an array of current trends and techniques designed to increase business and artistry acumen. The presentations were moderated by CEO and Founder Andrew Dale as well as newly appointed Director of Business Education UK David Drew, and featured a special appearance and demonstration by Deb Gavin of Keratin Complex Color Therapy. "Education is the key to developing your work, and my view was always to invest in creating a show that united our artists to come together and share their knowledge and learn from each other," explains Dale. "Global Session London has been incredible and we now look forward to San Diego in 2016!" —Amy Dodds i "We had created our two latest collections, Atelier Punk and Atelier Chic, just before the UNITE Global Session in London, so it was a natural choice to present them there," says Jason Liddiard, who presented on Day Two. "The two collections contrasted between a very textured punk look and a very smooth shiny feel, and both collections utilized short, geometric haircuts, which translated well on stage." i Fredrik Karlsson and Matthias Laveson of Sweden's F&M; salon presented a standout avant-garde collection. "We always discuss what's important for us at the moment," says Karlsson. "Our headpieces are all about a sustainable world, so we talked about that, but also gave the ins and outs to the technical part of our demonstration." i "I wanted to deliver something new and creative, a take on what I see starting to happen in the men's hair industry," says Matt Stark, owner of Stark Salon in Essex, of his presentation. "My collection Panic In Detroit is, at its core, change. I wanted to show the audience something new and something transferrable." i Daniel Rymer, who presented on behalf of GO24•7, had two stage demos; the fi rst, pictured here, drew inspiration from a recent editorial cover shoot, and the other from his Future Tribe collection. "To be honest, I'm very new to stage work and presenting," he says. "I was very nervous but I feel it's been great for my confi dence. There is no better feeling than people coming up and thanking me for sharing my knowledge. I never thought I would ever experience that." i European Art Director Daniel Jordan, who counts Cara Delevingne among his clientele, delivered his trademark precision cutting onstage. i "I generally like to work behind the scenes," says extentionist Inanch Emir, center, "but as this was a special event and working with amazing people, I couldn't turn down this opportunity to present onstage." On the other hand, Natasha Pearson, Senior Art Director and Emir's partner onstage, feels quite differently: "I love being on stage! It's nerve-wracking sometimes, but I really enjoy interacting with an audience."
